Our new Launceston Playgroup is starting in Windsor Community Garden with the support of Playgroup Tasmania to give families an opportunity to grow and play outdoors. At Patersonia Outdoor Playgroup participants will enjoy a range of experiences including weeding, planting, potting, outdoor crafts, socialising and free imaginative play. Everyone is welcome.
We, a group of local parents, have started Patersonia to provide learning opportunities for children aged 0-12 with a primary focus on learning together outdoors. We are inspired by the UK's forest school movement as well as a growing body of research which demonstrates the importance of outdoor learning in the social, emotional and cognitive development of children. Patersonia welcome the government's decision to implement the Working Together for Three Year Olds Initiative which will align with their playgroup and vision.
Patersonia's chairperson, Nicole Crook explains “Children need more time freely exploring in mud and dirt using all their senses in the great outdoors. That's where the learning really happens.” The outdoor Playgroup will meet every Friday at Windsor Community Garden in Riverside from 9.30-11.30am.
